Analysis Phase

Overview

The Analysis Phase is the foundation of the ADDIE instructional design process. It sets the stage for all other phases by identifying the learning problem, understanding the learners, and defining clear instructional goals and objectives.

What Happens in the Analysis Phase?

In this phase, instructional designers seek to answer the following questions:

  1. What delivery methods are most suitable?
  2. Who are the learners?
  3. What are their current skills or knowledge levels?
  4. What do they need to learn?
  5. What are the learning environment and constraints?
  6. What are the desired learning outcomes?
